1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). Our community is not a soap box for complaining or drama, so please refrain from doing so here.[/size]

1820 1O C.; New variation or mis-graded?
I happened to see this in my searches and noticed it looked odd to me as I am relatively familiar with the JR scale on Bust dimes. Having studied the Dave Davis book to help identify my own collection. The statesof die has a very round 0 in (1O C.). But this one does not.

Re: New variation or mis-graded?
According to the book, it could be a JR-5 (but no notched stars on obverse that I can see. Or most likely a JR-9. Both have rather scrunched “States of America” on rev but don’t have the circle 0. In 10c. And neither are designated as a Statesof. So either pcgs errored or someone put the wrong coin in this case. See JR-1 on below (bottom).

I admit ignorance on bust dimes. But despite the perceived notion the market seems to hold that slabbing companies are THE coin experts, your statement of:
PCGS makes many more errors than people who revere the companies like to know about/see/acknowledge.
Please check the link in my signature for a paper showing, with company pictures and quotations (all linked for you to check it yourself...please do), how a simple rookie level Kennedy half variety (the No FG) attribution PCGS is commonly misattributed by the "experts" despite PCGS's claim they even assign experts to each coin who have a specialty in that specific coin!
is not an uncommon thing to find at all.So either pcgs errored or someone put the wrong coin in this case.

Common grading company shortcomings & resulting co$tly mi$take$ to collectors (using Kennedy No FG halves):
