Okay, first of all, I'm fairly sure this is NOT a mint error coin. I think what happened was that someone found this coin buried in the ground. They cleaned it up really good and then spooned the edge just enough to fold over the metal and compress it onto the back part of the word AMERICA. How they did all of this I don't know. I'm not a pro at this and am only guessing what happened with the little knowledge of what I know about coins. First two pictures are of the full view of the coin. The next three are of the date, liberty, and in God we. The obverse side looks like it was corroded or somehow deteriorated. The other pictures are of the reverse side. First is a top view, then the splitting of the metal on AMERICA, then the word UNITED. As you can also see, that somehow the letters have all been flattened, except the E PLURIBUS UNUM, which is totally missing. Please let me know what you think went on with this coin. Thank you for looking. FYI I have several more mysterious coins that I will be posting soon.
Daniel, please forgive me if the following link to another forum is not allowed...and get rid of this post please if I am breaking a rule.
Here is a link to a 2013 post I made on another forum concerning dryer coin origins. The post shows I have a bit of experience with this subject since I grew up with a coin collecting grandfather who owned laundromats - hence we pulled many out of machines (dryers and the commercial washing machines both). Some extreme dryer coins are shown from my "collection" of them.: https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/top ... _ID=143863
