1886 bu morgan
picked up your everyday morgan for a nice price and after looking at it, the date seems to be off, the 6 is higher than the rest of the date numbers. also what i thought was a scratch, after magnification it turns out to be raised, die crack i'm guessing. not really asking about the coin, just the date and die crack. vam world was not user friendly to me. these are the best pics i can give for now. the crack runs from the fourth star on the left counting up through the p on the obverse. can i buy a new truck or should i wait. { lol } hope all this makes sense.

Yes, this is very normal. All Morgan Dollars are VAMs and most don't add any value at all. I always look for Top 100.

Re: 1886 bu morgan
Oh Vammy Boy, the dates, the dates are callin
from slant to slant, and down the obverse side
the die cracks long, and all the grades are falling
it's you it's you must have and I must buy.
Now here is a secret shhhhhhh don't tell anyone. VAMs and toners are BIG, BIG I tell you, thars gold in them thar hills, well at least silver anyway. Remember the Series 3 exam. the role of the speculator as regards a market is to provide liquidity. Coins are no longer this little geeky hobby, there are people from all over in this market, even the Vatican is selling coins https://vatican.com/6/Vatican-Coin-Set, they also sell American coins like Morgans etc, now that's what I call a coin vault.
Anywho, the deal is you never know who wants it and how much they will pay for it. I have been offered 3x my cost on my first VAM (the 37), and 1.5 x for my second one (the 10), I don't want to sell them right now because, well emotion, (I know emotion is not a plan) but I found them in the wild, so I want to keep them around for a while.
However if one wanted to speculate, well the best place to start would be the top 100 or any of the VAMs recognized by NGC and PCGS, they are very picky in what they attribute. I used ANACs because mine were "minor" VAMs, but as I said before, folks want 'em just because they say VAM. The purists hate these market ploys, but for me, by selling some stuff, I can buy better stuff, who knows maybe you and I will draw down at an auction for a major CC VAM, may the best person win, or the one with the deepest pockets

Re: 1886 bu morgan
Been there, done that. But I only paid a couple dollars.even the Vatican is selling coins https://vatican.com/6/Vatican-Coin-Set,
I saved a bundle on shipping too...by going there and buying it directly
In the late 80s I took a group of students to Italy to tour major sights/cities.
