What Is It?

#1 Unread post by Samstone11 »

It's very rare for me to find something I'm not ashamed to bother you guys with, but my wife brought this home today and I don't understand it. I've read about wrong planchet, mules, horse whisperers, and dogs and cats living together in harmony, but I couldn't even figure out how to phrase this in a Google search. I tried to explain the photos I took and I admit I didn't take enough time to get great pics. I just wanted to know if this is perhaps counterfeit or something unique. The few things I don't think I mentioned with the photos are there are no edge grooves, the rim is very pronounced and deeper than any of the few proofs I've ever seen (I can take another picture tomorrow to do a better job showing how deep), and I didn't label the side/edge view on the last pic.

It's late so I'm headed into the sunset for tonight but any answers--or questions--are much appreciated.

Everyone stay safe, happy, and healthy plus thanks for any time.

I agree, they don't come from the mint like this.

Also, for future reference:
Dryer Coins & Pics

For some interesting pics of what are generically called dryer coins.

Your pic shows surfaces (especially the OBV) that reminds me of some of mine.

BTW - nice pics!
Do you mind me asking what backdrop you used on the second and third ones before removing it and replacing it with black?
