1982 D pemny

#1 Unread post by Kimberlyh »

Good Morning everyone,
My name is Kimberly and I am from NJ, but currently live in Myrtle Beach SC. My 6 year old daughter and I have been having a pennies from heaven hunt for about 9 months now and we have collected way to many for my lack of organizational skills to handle. I know more about makeup and purse collecting than I do coins so upon further inspection of the many Ziploc bags of coins my elder neighbor had offered help and he has found some interesting coins (supposedly). The first one worth mentioning is a 1982 D small date penny weighing in at 3.07 grams. I will post a picture when my 15 year old with his fancy iphone 12 pro max thingy wakes for school, as my phone is cheap and horrible at pictures. Also any advice on how to go through the bags to sort out what's worth keeping and what's worth spending on more makeup ans purses of course.

Hello and Welcome ! Advise ? You just have go through them one by one ( I use my Loop ) . A 1982D penny usually weighs 3.11g but yours is within reason.

Thank you for your reply. Question #2 why would a penny weigh 3.19 grams? It's a 1964 d we weighed it several times and keeps coming up 3.19 grams is that odd?

Mint tolerances for cents is +/- .13 grams if I recall correctly.

Welcome!

As to what to look for, search Daniel's videos concerning what Lincoln cents to look out for. If you get a copy of the Red Book you can see a complete list of which are more values by by comparing the listed prices (which are always too high - the best way to see actual prices is look at SOLD eBay auctions).
