The 1976 coin

#1 Unread post by skyshade123 »

Hello I'm new to this site😊 I'm a canadian hope everythings good on you end? I do have question i know that this story is a little long so ill try to make it short.
My mother had old coins in the safety deposit box at the bank for about 40 years. She told me that I could take them out so I did. One out of the 3 us coins that wore there one caught my eye. So I did a lot of research for about 2 weeks. I realized that this 1976 coin is a type 2 with No S mint mark. So I did some test to it. Its not magnetic, I checked for the ping sound and it was sharp and lasted. There is a shining to it and its a silver clad. I weighted it, diameter as well edges is reeded. I have photos of it. I can send more if need be.

This looks like a normal 1976, they came without mint marks and clad non silver, what makes you think it's silver?

Welcome from a "southerner" who appreciates our great northern neighbors! I grew up near the border and love my other "home."

Unlike Canadian coinage, only a very few US coins are magnetic.

Since you said you weighed your coin, this should determine if it is silver. Is there something else about it you want to ask?
