PCGS Can't Grade
Hello All, I'm just here to let you know that PCGS is not friendly to Coin Dealers unless your one that gives them a lot of $$$, then you probably get favors lol
Anyway I sent in my first Submission of 10 coins and I was Scalped with a Sharp Tomahawk.
Here's the Proof: Genuine Not Gradable
I had serious Doubts so I sent the Coin to NGC 3 weeks later and here are the Results:
I should have never tried PCGS, I send all my stuff to NGC but i really wanted to try their new NFC product. I was Burned by the Bad Men of Grading, I hope you never get to experience something like this, I'm out hundreds of dollars
and have a pile of broken plastic to show for it.

Re: PCGS Can't Grade
Also my other 9 coins were all botched and sent back to NGC. This was a lesson in futility. Dealing with PCGS's Customer Service Dept. is like dealing with a Drug Addict at a Rehab facility. Nobody has a clue as to what's going on and everyone is High on something.

Re: PCGS Can't Grade
Also #2 Daniels Forum rocks. I just found out about it and I bought a 1881-S MS65 Morgan from Portsmouth Coin Shop a few months ago. It was a great coin. I wish he would sell his Redfield Collection online. There are buyers out there Daniel ;)
Re: PCGS Can't Grade
I hear ya . I have a 1805 B.1 25C that was graded F15 and its the highest graded B1 by PCGS and there is only 1 but its really a VF25 maybe a 30 according by there standards (PCGS photograde) and I would love to resubmit but I don't trust mail and parcel to not lost it because its a 1 of a kind coin and there is still a chance they give it same grade or opinion

Re: PCGS Can't Grade
??? Did they say why it wasn't gradeable?
About the only way I will use a grading service is if Heritage or Great Collections submits them for me when I consign. I like raw coins but will buy a slab if it is a good deal. (Almost) never happens on eBay as everybody jacks up the price to cover the grading fees.

Re: PCGS Can't Grade
Details Grade, Altered which is vague. The coin was not cleaned it was cracked out of a MS65 old holder, went to PCGS got hit with the Details Grade, went back to NGC and got an Undergrade at MS63. Imo it deserves an MS64, or MS65 designation. There are very few bag marks and the Strike is Sharp.

Re: PCGS Can't Grade
Hey Nevada, good to have you here. Could you maybe kind of edit your post juuuust a bit to reflect a more "family friendly" verbiage. I am not a mod, but I am thinking about maybe some younger members, I am talking 8, 9, 10 year old range. Again I am not a mod, keyboard alpha or have any power, just an observation.
I have heard horror stories from PCGS and NGC, I have not experienced any problems with NGC or ANACS, I have heard about PCGS being heavy handed when it comes to grading, so I really have no reason to use them, the percentage of premium value that a PCGS sticker brings as opposed to NGC is not worth the uncertainty for me.
The only new crack outs I would do are ICG, just because of the premium going ICG to NGC, of course you have to be sure the grade stays the same or better. Also old NGC stuff, if you can find it, works really well due to "coin inflation", older coins where under graded compared to today.
Really sorry you had this experience, you know the old saying "experience is not the best teacher, only the most expensive", which is what this site is all about, learning from Daniel, Paul, and the rest of the motley crew, so that we don't throw money away.
Oh yeah if anyone wants to throw money away, you can throw it my way

Re: PCGS Can't Grade
I sometimes crackout old NGC & Anacs, and sometimes ICG. Anacs and old NGC's usually get a +1 score. ICG is usually downgraded by 1,2 points unless they missed something. This is thru my experience only.
I just recently sent NGC a 81 S crackout from a small Anacs slab.
It was ms64 on the Anacs slab and came back NGC MS65. It paid for the coin, the new slab, and I sold it at Auction, no reserve price and I put money in my pocket.
At PCGS, i think they need to rethink how they grade coins because it's their Reputation that's on the Line, and as for the Language well it stays. Their Reputation is what built their Company and it's their Reputation
Online is what will break their Company if they keep up the Antics ! People are aware and will not be tricked into handing them over good Money for nothing.

Re: PCGS Can't Grade
PCGS is getting way too conservative. Paul is correct, could have tried crossover and if it didn't then it comes back in the same holder.

Re: PCGS Can't Grade
Indeed we have Crossed over many Coins Paul ! It's just that the top 2 TPG'S, well when they see a Numeric Grade tend to keep that Grade & In my case it was a bad idea to send out a previously graded MS65 coin.
If I had tried to cross it over maybe the results would have been different, but that makes no sense at all.

Re: PCGS Can't Grade
Yet another example of reality when it comes to the grading companies.
Nevada, please take this the right way...CoinMule said already what I was trying to find a nice way of saying. We could have kids on here and I know I used to censor my own children from websites with content such as that.
We are glad to have you with us...just asking a favor.

Common grading company shortcomings & resulting co$tly mi$take$ to collectors (using Kennedy No FG halves):

Re: PCGS Can't Grade
OP Edited + I like the fact that Paul brought up the Crossover thing, One of my 10 coins was a Crossover with a Green CAC Bean. PCGS didn't take to kindly to the bean, ripped the coin out and Slabbed it - Same Grade w/ no Consideration & now, no Bean.
