Re: 1982 small date?
It's obviously been struck twice so the doubling is causing it to look like a large date. Sorry this is not double struck. The pictures are too fuzzy to tell for sure, but it looks like the date took a hit in circulation or, as Daniel said, strike doubling. A double struck coin looks a lot differen...

Having it in hand is always better than trying from pictures. So since you cannot see it in hand, it is likely never going to be known.

I went to task first by removing all of the slides. Two are missing! Yay! It just keeps getting better. Luckily, I have extra. They get a good soapy bath and a good drying with a blower, my air mattress inflator. BE CAREFUL with a hair dryer. The slides melt and warp easily with the slightest heat!...

Another possible suggestion is to go to error-ref.com and look up "grease filled die." In general these are called a plugged die, but the error-ref.com page explaining this is referenced this way. This is how, for example, the W in IGWT could gave been left off of your coin when it was str...

Apmex may or may not get the coins they send direct from the Mexican mint. I do not know. Sorry but I believe the pictures are only showing a damaged rim.
