It's a worn D. There was no P mint mark in 1977. I think 1980 is when they started using the P mint mark on quarters.

I agree with Paul. There are so many ways in which PMD can be caused. Alas.. You need to understand that if you can think about it, someone has already done it.

I really do not think what you have is a doubled ear. To me it looks more like a stain. Again this is just my opinion.

The FG is not Pareidolia. I see nothing special about the Mint Mark or with the initials.
