if he has weighted various other Kennedys and they were within normal Kennedy weight's, I would say the scale is fine. Now I found a magic coin Kennedy a couple of days ago and it weighed light. Drop the coin and drop other Kennedy's, do they sound the same? I don't know enough about Kennedy and the...

Like Daniel mentioned no extra value unless you find a particular buyer who really wants it, post mint damage, but it is a very cool coin. It does look like a guitar. lol

Justapiece, however, to answer your question of what you are seeing on the three coins that all three were struck by the same die that has some insignificant damage on the die. It is a mint error, but nothing more than like a die scratch. It is a good die marker when looking thru OBW's rolls. If you...

HI claudewill1, if by chance you found a coin with a mint mark touching a number lets say on a 1953 D, with the life of a die, producing several hundred thousand coins, and 66 years later and such an obvious error I would think it would have been found by now. I looked to see if there was an RPM wit...

Justapiece, I'll keep nice ones too. Your quarter is a beauty. That long curved crack to the top of the eagles head, very cool. The coin is circulated but actually is pretty good shape. I'd call it a very nice find. I roll hunt for varieties and errors, generally the obvious ones, but some are prett...

That is an awesome coin. I have seen a few coins with the lamination piece that hs come off and fortunately, the lamination piece stayed with the coin. This lamination goes clear across the coin. If you take some more pictures the full obverse and reverse then on the closeups of the mm take pictures from different angles and lighting. My initial thoughts is die wear the way the mm is dished out. Tho it is hard to tell what the serifs look like. Just need better pictures.

Hey Jsul77798, it is not a piece of the design though it lines up and fits perfectly. Re: 1979-D Lincoln Cent (RPM)

This is extremely common. Oldtimmer posted the answer to his own question. This has fooled many hunters. But unfortunately on the 1979 D, this particular MM was caused by a problem in the mint with a broken punch - honest to goodness. There is no premium as it is found on just about every 1979 D.

Re: 1972 D Washington Quarter WMHR-001 Master Hub Doubling

Justapiece this is a relative late die strike with lots of circulation wear. Some of the doubled dies we are searching for are hard to find on some of the pristine BU UNC coins without a scope it seems. The one you are looking for on this quarter isn't a very strong one with huge notching. One Weakn...

Oh, that is normal die erosion. The mint just ran these dies to death. But the older and more worn the musher the devices would get. Now to me, the most interesting part of the coin appears to be a struck through on the neck, that wiggly line. Kinda cool. I guess I should call it an anomaly.

Re: Happy New Year and a question.

One thing you can do is simply look at the sides of the coins. If they show any pinkish or copper color no matter if the weight is 11.50 or 11.34 grams it is not silver. The 77 and 73 have both been reported to have been struck on silver planchets. I am not aware of any 79's on a silver planchet. Si...

You can see remnants of more columns of the memorial to the left in the circle. The mint workers may have tried to polish the clash out or like Daniel mentioned it was minor. Though the one behind Lincolns head is quite strong. There may be remnants of the clash in front of Lincoln's face as well.

yes again those are plating and machine doubling issues. If you notice where you are seeing the doubling the letters are thinner if a doubled die the letters wouldn't get thinner, the letter would get wider and notching would most likely appear on the ends and points of the letters. Cons with these ...

The size of the obverse makes it impossible to determine if there is any DDO. The reverse pictures are adequate to see if there are any signs of DDR's. On a coin like this, it is very hard to determine if any exist unless it is a very strong DD. The surface bubbling/plating issues make it hard to se...
