Your pics are way to close to see what is going on.

Pictures 6 and 4 are far and close, appears to be the letter T. Picture 7, looks like the bottom of a 9. I will try some less Mag. pictures. My first edge photography.

Re: Ronald Reagan presidential Dollar, strange edge
You are going to find all sorts of things on coins using such high power magnification due to pareidolia.
The following copy/paste is something I wish I had been told manyyears ago:
Don’t learn the coin hobby backwards.
Looking for random anomalies on coins and hoping they match up to something collectable will take you a lot more time, wasted effort, and disappointment repeatedly finding out you have nothing but post mint damage.
Spend some initial time at places like error-ref.com, doubleddie.com, varietyvista.com, conecaonline.org, coppercoins.com etc. to find what actual and collectable coin errors look like.
A good way to start is, for instance, separate a bunch of pennies by date. Go to varietyvista.com and, date by date, use the reference there to see what errors are known for that specific coin/mint mark. Look for those specific errors/varieties using the pictures provided. After doing this for awhile you will KNOW what an actual error looks like and not have to waste time on face value and damaged coins.
It is possible, again, pics to close to tell for sure, the rim is simply dinged up form circulation.

Way to much magnification. You should be able to take a photo of the whole Obverse and Reverse with having to try two separate Obverse photo together. You really need to back way way back on you magnification. Other than that it looks like PMD to me.

The letters, numbers and stars appear as if they are on top of the damage?

Ok, barring the edge shots. What about the image at the end of spike on liberty's head piece?

Nothing about this coin is a mint error or worth a bunch of time looking into it.

Re: Ronald Reagan presidential Dollar, strange edge
First, as Daniel said, there is nothing going on with this coin to make it collectable and worth a premium. Spend some time at error-ref.com to see what collectable errors form the mint are. What about the image at the end of spike on liberty's head piece?
When using such a high magnification, people find die chips, small cuds, and other small anomalies that are just minor and common imperfections that have no extra value. We have a lot of this type of stuff here we help people ID.
What is going on above Miss Liberty could be a minor die chip or part of the damage that was done to the rim.
As to the stars being on top of some of the damage, in one picture is is rather clear the star's point was mushed down into the mark made when the coin took a hit. In another, it almost looks like the design is simply on top of some of the metal that was moved by a hit.
Here is something I like to help people understand, that I would have liked to have been told/shown many years ago:
Save Yourself time, effort, and disappointment...don’t learn the coin hobby backwards.
