#1 Unread post by jamescruz64 »

Mr. Daniel, i love your knowledge i have been searching coins to help with my tramtic brain injury from combat, and coin searching has enhanced my way back to normal sense on focus, just to say you have helped me immensely, thank you. NOW I would to get your opinion on a coin i found in a 1954 d roll, but it is as u taught me no mint mark could be Philadelphia mint, but it looks nothing like the others, could u give me a simple explanation for this coin, plus not good as u on doubling or machine doubling, Thank you for your time Sir. Sincerely , J.Cruz US ARMY RETIRED

Looks like a nice Mint State 1954 P.A minted coin . Not Denver or San Fran.

Welcome, and a heartfelt thank you for your service and sacrifice.
...but it looks nothing like the others, could u give me a simple explanation for this coin,
All proof coins from 1954 were made at the San Francisco mint. There is no S on your coin so it is not a proof.

Sometimes a coin made directly out of freshly polished dies (or new dies) can have a more lustrous appearance. it is impossible to tell in the pictures, but this is a possibility. Typically there is no special market I am aware of for these coins, but I keep them when I find them!

Thanks for your service!

As far as the coin is concerned I would rather coins be posted outside of the holder. It looks like a normal uncirculated cent to me.

Earle42: US Proof coins from 1954 have no mint mark and were not struck in San Francisco. FACT

Here is a high end example of a 1954 proof Lincoln cent. No mint mark present.

Your coin looks like a nice red business strike coin. Judging by the pictures it doesn't seem to have the brilliant shine of a proof from that era.

Thank you for this oversight on my part. I was not thinking, obviously, at the time.

I just caught this, proofs from 1964 and earlier where struck at the Philadelphia Mint.

Yes, I was not thinking when I made the initial post and am glad I got corrected. My brain had what I like to call a Microsoft Moment.😂

jamescruz64: The rule is only one coin per topic. If you a second coin you will need to open a new topic for it.
