For the current 1C copper plated zinc blank...
How is it made?
What does it look like before it's plated?
Who is the contractor?
Do they have a factory tour?
Any pointers greatly appreciated in advance.
And yes, I did my homework before asking here. I couldn't find any substantive information relating to the 1 cent blanks before they arrive at the mint.
Thanks, Bob

The Mint does have a Youtube channel:
https://www.youtube.com/user/USMINT/videos
I know it's not everything - but they have some interesting videos - with some virtual tours on it
Hope this helps

Yes, they do. It is highly informative about how coins are minted and being able to see just how some of the "errors" you'll ask about cannot be produced by the mint.Funky Strike wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 8:04 pm The Mint does have a Youtube channel:

Re: 1C Copper plate blank - how is it made?
Well, I didn't call the mint, just did some more online research.
I'm posting it here in case anyone's curious:
Artazn (formerly Jarden Zinc Products) Greeneville, Tn:
https://artazn.com/products/coinage/
makes the 1C penny blanks, according to:
https://www.coinworld.com/news/precious ... lanks.html
and
https://www.greenevillesun.com/news/loc ... 16e31.html .
They have a Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC99sc4 ... t39zbYqIFQ , .
And some other videos about them can be found by searching for 'Jarden Zinc', like: .
And when they spill onto a highway, it appears they use a very large vacuum to clean them up:
