I know there were some with a special finish, but I never heard of an "experimental wash"

I don't see it listed on the PCGS site....which is strange since it appears that's who graded it...

It's an error not a variety so it's not going to be listed like a variety as in a doubled die or repunched mint mark.

I guess you could put it on E-Bay for $5000 and see if anyone buys it.
