I have used VerdiCare for years now to remove/kill verdigris on coins. Yet results like this still impress me every time...
NOTE: This was a proper conservation process not "cleaning" there is a major difference...

Looks great, Weasel, especially the observe! What's the back-story on the coin? Why was the observe so much worse than the reverse? Just curious...

Re: 1851 Large Cent.. Beautiful conservation with VerdiCare
Picked it up off ebay just last week... looked like a near au coin with a bit of verdigris for only $15 i thought it worth a shot. as for the coloration difference I would guess that it was in an album that protected the reverse while leaving the obv exposed. while my $20 LC set already has an 1851 it is not quite as nice as this one turned out. There was also the possibility of it being a 51/81 but that was not the case (so still hunting for one). This one will upgrade the one i presently have, the other well we'll see lol

Yeah, but since you are not a TPG, it is still cleaned and not conserved. Also you did not pay $25 minimum, so that also disqualifies your "conservation". heheheheh
Oh yeah, great coin as usual congrats

Very nice looking. BadThad's "juice" is amazing! I wish he would start making more of it again.
Common grading company shortcomings & resulting co$tly mi$take$ to collectors (using Kennedy No FG halves):
