Did you weigh this coin? No one can help with off colored coins until we know how much it weighs, weight rules out several things to begin with.

I agree

...and the most common thing for coins looking like this is they spent time in the ground. Ask any metal detectorist.
The rest of the pics just look like regular contact marks from circulation.

Are you saying 17.30 grams? If you are then there is either something wrong with you scale or the coin is not real. The quarter should weight 11.3 grams and the Silver quarter should weigh 11.50 grams. I am going to have to wait until someone with a lot more knowledge than me to chime in.

Are you saying that he is weighting the coin(s) using grains not grams? Thank for pointing out about grain.

My scale only goes to the tenths on grams. ( 1.0.) So I use grains to give me a more definitive answer. 40% silver would be 175.5 grains, which is 11.39 in grams.
