So, one, I've started posting pics of my own color scale above coins I'm posting on eBay (until my therapist has completely cured me of the habit). I find that my lighting and camera can be simply unpredictable (isn't that a song?). I was inspired to do this when a gripe of Indian Head Cents arrived much darker than pictured in the auction. What do you think? Helpful?
But, more importantly, and back on topic, to what degree do the hits on the rim affect the value in this case? Extent of environmental damage? It's old and worn; is this within tolerance for the grade?
And also, does the die rotation add interest/value? Surely, this was a much more common occurrence back in the day. Does this peg the coin into any particular Sheldon variety?
I'm seeing a Grey Sheet of $75 wholesale for an unimpaired specimen VG8. Would a target of 50% of that be unrealistic?

Re: 1827 Large cent rim bumps, rotated dies
It is common to find misaligned dies with type coins like this. As well as darker examples, it could be micro-pitting but would have to examine in hand. It's a nice example either way.

Hey! Thanks! A reply from the man himself! I live in Newport, KY, and would like to visit your shop. I don't remember what city it's in. I'm itchin' for some upgrades to my "work-in-progress" type set.
