1971 S Non-proof dime

#1 Unread post by ShortyStomper »

So I was going through some dime roles and came across this. It doesn't appear to have ever been a proof strike and i couldn't find anything other than that for dimes minted from SF that year. Thoughts?

No, this is not a proof the San Francisco minted dimes in 1971.
???

I really hate to disagree...but I there is no mintage listed for 1971 S non-proof dimes.

Sometimes proof coins get put into circulation and take on the look of a normal strike coin. These are called "impaired proofs."

This is Likely a highly-Circulated Proof Dime, all of the proof markers are gone, it's still a Proof since San Francisco stopped making circulating Dimes since the 1950s

Here is a great example of how it's possible to have a disagreement without taking anything personally, presented to us by Senior Management. To all board members, the leadership here talks the talk and walks the walk, so take notice! Everyone is here to learn, so be open to all discussion, even disagreements. We're all better for it. Thanks Daniel and Earle for setting the proper tone for this outstanding forum!

Best,
Jeff
