Lucky Mint Purchase

#1 Unread post by DSCoins »

I guess I may have gotten some what lucky with the Limited Edition 2021 Silver Proof Set - American Eagle Collection. I was looking around the Mints web site, and noticed the the Limited Edition set had the remind me button. I continued to look around (general browsing). For the heck of it I checked the Limited Edition set just before logging off, and low and behold it had Add to Bag. Which of course I did and managed to get it into my bag and checked out. About 5 min later I went back to check to see if I really had the set on order. Yes I did have in my Order History and I saw that it was again on Remind Me.

Nice, I decided I've spent too much money with the mint this year so I opted not to get one even though when I checked at 2pm it was still available.

Wow. Nice!

Oh my...just looked...they were gone at 6:50 PM, but 235.00? Yowza! I quit the silver proof sets b/c they upped the price so much form the year before. This one went way up to it seems!

I think they're charging that much because there are only 50K of them which is extremely low mintage. I bet he can flip it for double the money. People are paying high prices on Ebay for anything from the mint in 2021. The 2021 reverse proof had a higher mintage and was 175.00. Beautiful coins though. None were dislodged in my reverse proof set and I'm glad I bought them. Never had a reverse proof. I probably should buy the proof to go along with it.

It was either last year or the year before the mint raised prices unreasonably high as compared to what they were. It was a topic of discussion on the other forum I am on. There were a lot of people wondering why the mint would do this as they thought it would cause a lot of people not to keep up with subscriptions. I know I cancelled mine b/c it was an unreasonable raise (not just a 10.00 or so).
