I think the United States is trying to copy Canada but on a higher scale and for a lesser metal (well at this time with spot prices). I think at one point Platinum was worth more than gold but now it has reversed.

Well its priced like an older silver coin or gold coin. Instead of it being worth $0.25 or $20 that big coin gold coin is worth far more than its face value of 1 million Canadian Dollars as the melt value is much higher than fiat dollars. At the present date (rounding between bid and ask to the nearest dollar): 10/06/2021 price of $2,220 Canadian dollars for an ounce of gold @ 3215 troy ounces that coin is actually worth $7,137,300 Canadian Dollars. In US dollars @ a price of $1,764 for one ounce of gold that coin is worth $5,671,260 US Dollars. I bet if one is sold there is probably a numismatic premium added as well to the already high melt value. I think one was stolen once and the thieves used a wheelbarrow to take it. Let me find the article.

Anyway back to the US proposed coin, it is not worth the melt value of 1 Trillion dollars otherwise they are just asking to inflate the US dollar worse than it already is. The FED should have just printed it as they have in the past no matter what with all the fiat printed its pointless to do this. Now if the coin was made out of Rhodium and 3215 ounces or greater it would at least be worth about a hundred million dollars or could almost be justified to be worth a Trillion dollars as that is the rarest most desirable metal on earth.

Lets see if I use the Governments math. I should be able to perches it, and then only pay back 1/4 of the interest each year for the next 100 or so years.
Yes I do understand how government spending works. Every quarter Oct-Dec (fiscal quarter) we would given our budget and they would divide into the 4 quarters. At the end of fourth quarter we had to spend everything we had left from the entire fiscal year, or we lose it, and cut our budget. Spend it any way you can to either get a 0 on the account. If we went into the red we would get more the next fiscal year.

Its so sad to see we are now back in a position where this kind of lunacy is once again being discussed as being a necessity. The worst part is that so many people cannot see who/what caused the need for this kind of problem...and its the second time around in a decade.

But...since the coin is being assigned the value, its just the same as our current money system anyway. It only has value b/c people pretend it does and agree to see it as such.

I wonder if they'll have to make a giant PCGS holder for it and have it certified as certified by CAC... 😂
Just my two cents...
