Is this a Real or counterfeit Morgan Dollar 1899-o?

#1 Unread post by WalhallCoins »

Hi guys 🙂

So i found this really nice looking 1899-o Morgan Dollar...

I would be really thankful if someone can help me confirm if this is the real deal or not - 1899-o Morgan Dollar ?

To me it looks good, and its from an really old collection. Though i am still not 100% sure if its genuine, since Morgans is not my area normaly and what i collect in US coins.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

/Alex

Looks legit from what I see; I would weigh it if possible.

This might be a legit 1899-O Morgan Silver Dollar, there is a Micro-O variety, but this one looks like it does not feature it.

Thank you for the replies and info guys!

Thing is, i do not have the coin in my hands yet. Its from a local auction here in Sweden.

Ive bought other coins in the past from the same seller that was 100% legit. I just thought it looked way to "good" with barely any contact marks. I guess sometimes you are just lucky to stumble upon some really nice Morgan Dollars 😁

Also this. Im currently trying to learn more about Morgan VAM varieties. I noticed there are a few differnt VAM's for 1899-o, so i will be trying to identify it if its anything over the ordinary with the coin.

Ty for the reply.

Looks OK to me. As has been suggested, weigh it.

Looks to be very much real, but would have to weight it to be sure. as for Varities/VAMs, This site is probably your best resource... VAM World 2.0 It's sort of the goto site for VAMs...
