1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). PCGS no hologram
There is much debate over whether a PCGS holder can/cannot be valid if it does not have a hologram. The PCGS museum of holders only seems to show the main/basic holders.
I have a 2008 1/10oz gold Buffalo Moy signed that seems to have a slightly different holder. The color of the plastic is slightly darker/bluer. It fits/snaps with other PCGS holders fine, but it has a slightly different top/obverse design -- specifically the 4 corners. It has a special label -- not the standard light blue one. There is no hologram front/back.
The PCGS verification# of 29659206 pulls up the correct coin/year, but has no images on file.
Matching photos I found online: http://numismaclub.com/imgs/a/i/y/c/p/m ... _1_lgw.jpg

Re: PCGS no hologram
Many of the early holders that were made for special occasions didn't have the hologram as well as the holders for many NIFC coins like the Kennedy halves. There's no logic to it. You can have two of the same year and mint coin and they can have different holders depending on when they were graded.

Re: PCGS no hologram
Welcome C, I would call PCGS and see what they say about it, IF it is some kind of rare holder, obviously you keep it, if it has no added value, send it to be reholdered. do not have it regraded, just reholdered, it costs a few bucks, but I think you would be ahead in the long run

Re: PCGS no hologram
It is a rare holder as it has the mint directors signature on it. That was the true draw of buying that coin in your picture.
