Please Help?? Black 1997D Quarter Fail? Quarter 1of 3

I found this quarter in some pocket change a few years ago and have kept it thinking that one day hopefully I’ll find out what is wrong with it. Can someone possibly help me??? By the way I don’t know if this matters or not but it is weighing I believe 5.31

You are talking about the grooves on the outside of a quarter correct?

Yes he is . However, they might be worn down , IMO.

I will guess, "Dryer Coin"?
........ the raised area on the reverse due to excessive heat?

I agree it looks like a dryer coin, and it was also in a fire sometime which caused the raising of the surface.

Interesting clad quarter.... if you have the time in PMD... and it is PMD.... what I'm about to ask is shouldn't have any consequence... question? Is that raised bump hard as a rock or does it go pop with a flaking off piece of clad?

Why do I feel like that was a trick question??? Lol!! It is hard! I thought the pictures showed that it was solid and messed up the back side of the coin! I can send more pictures if needed
