1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. 1906 Unc IH with smashed one in date
Hi All: Attached is a photo of an uncirculated 1906 IH Cent. The one appears to have been "smashed" at the mint. What do you think?

Re: 1906 Unc IH with smashed one in date
Hello and Welcome there !
Well, It could be worse. How's the Reverse ? It could be damage but I wonder if it could be a weak strike ?
Overall, very pleasant coin to look at, nice clean fields and full liberty in headband !

I agree.
rbrown10: In the Future
Forum Rules require that when posting photos of a coin you would like someone to look at, you NEED to post a Cropped photo of both the the full Obverse and Reverse. Try to take these photos as clear and close as possible. Next take some photos of the area in question again as close and clear as possible. It would also help if you could find some way to point to the area in question or give a detailed explanation of what you want to be looked at. DO NOT just say "What Error is this?", "What do you think about this coin and what is the value?" or "What can you tell me about this coin?" If you need a photo editing program, there are three free ones that come to mind. They are PhotoScape, Inkscape and Gimp. Of the three PhotoScape is the easiest to use. I use PhotoScape and it will everything required to post photos on the board. Daniel explains quite well in the following two topics, POSTING PHOTOS plus is video on this same topic Daniels posting Coins Video on posting coins

Re: 1906 Unc IH with smashed one in date
Until we can get a better photo (lighting could be hiding something), remember that even coins leaving the mint can have contact damage on them - no added value.
Coins are allowed to exit the machine and fall down onto the others impacting the ones they land on.
Seeing the REV would also be helpful to know if there is a corresponding area on the REV.

Additional photos of the obverse/reverse attached as suggested. I don't believe other coins falling on this one could have caused this damage.

Re: 1906 Unc IH with smashed one in date
This did not happen at the mint. It was caused by blunt force circulation hit.
