4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. Heat damage would be my guess.

Agreed. The harsh cleaning was likely to clean up residue from whatever fire it was exposed to, but the blistering from heat remains?

The blistering is a physical movement of the metal due to the heat. There is no way to undo this. It would be like trying to un-hard boil an egg.Earle42 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 8:06 pm

Now a creative hobo nickel carver could likely smooth the area out, but this would be considered damage.

Truly a shame, though - this fire damage. Was an otherwise beautiful coin before its untimely ruin :( The history about how it came to this point would be fascinating...

Really good info thanks. This came to me at an auction many years ago. My first bust half. Built my set around it. Still find them interesting always.
