1941 P Wheat Cent Huge Lamination Error?

#1 Unread post by oldmoolababy »

Hello all,
This is my official first post. I found this penny coin roll hunting a while back and wanted to get some second opinions on it. I believe it to be some sort of severe lamination error. Please do correct me if I'm wrong or if you think otherwise. I have little experience with error coins and this is my most significant error find ever. Is this something special? Or pretty typical? I guess I'm just asking what is it? And is it worth anything? I'll never sell it, I'm just curious. Either way, it's always cool pulling something like this out of circulation. I took some macro lens shots hence why two photos are blurry around the edges. The error should be plain as day though. Please let me know your thoughts and I'm looking forward to some feedback!
Thanks,
-Ryan aka oldmoolababy

possibly, however, I don't know enough about errors to know for sure. Including the fact the letters in God are clearly visible I would say it's not damage. Other's here would know more though. Just thought I would give my input. http://www.error-ref.com/ would be a good resource. Also, Daniel has a book for coin errors for sale on his shops site.

This my theory . Detached lamination after the strike Error . There are a few websites to check for these type of errors for Sold values . There's of course , Ebay or Ha.com .
The thing about this and many Errors is there are no 2 alike and different values given to them . Just type Lamination error on ebay and you'll see.

It's a partially split planchet and could have had a flap like a clam shell at one time, but it's no longer attached and the coin has worn since then. Value would be an ebay sold item look, but I am not sure you're going to have much luck with a value.
