1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.

2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.

3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.

4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.

5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.

6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.

7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. Just follow the forum rules as well as areas in question.

If people give yo a link to help you educate yourself, take it and study it.

We value helping people LEARN for themselves over just being a yes/no service. People not willing to learn who continually want a yes/no answer only are the ones who upset people here.

If you cannot find your exact match of, let's say, a doubled die on a website, then find the closest listed and show pictures of yours using a similar shot to what they use.

If you cannot find a match at all, then you most likely have machine doubling or die deterioration doubling etc. These can be found defined at error-ref.com. So go there and look (in this case) search for "doubling." They have definitions with pictures of all the kinds of doubling. So look at their pictures, see what they say that form of doubling typically looks like and how to tell it apart for others, and then show us pictures showing why you think yours is machine doubling or whatever.

You should be able to determine damage from the coin being hit, hammered on, ground on, etc. Watch the minting videos here:
How Coins & Errors are made:
How Coins (and errors) Are Made

And apply some reasoning to a coin you have in hand to think if its possible what you see could have happened in any of those videos. For example, if you have a penny with round dents all over the front, ask yourself while watching those (short) videos if there was anything you saw that would make round dents in a coin's face.

Also look back through past posts of yours and see what some answers were. Use those answers to apply to your new finds.

A key here is not to assume an error b/c most of what we find are not legitimate collectable errors. Always assume something else and then be happy if it turns up otherwise. Taking this approach means the next time you find a coin (for example) with a hole in it, you won't be thinking, "Ooh! A hole, I wonder how much that would sell for on eBay!" But instead you will have the more realistic view of, "Oh, a hole. Well I could do that with a drill - nothing special."

No one here get's mad when you or anyone posts here, you're reading too much into our comments. I separate emotions from this hobby and business, it's makes things to complicated when you attach emotions to it.
