3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. And the reverse of the coin? Plus, you should remove the coin from the flip before taking pictures.
Re: 1833 large cent double face
Thanks! Much better......except for the coin that is! The doubling on the profile looks like machine doubling to me. The coin is/was severally cleaning/damaged. The green on the rev is verdigris. You might try acetone but nothing will help this coin, sorry. "Maybe" 20 buck.

Re: 1833 large cent double face
In general, any doubling on old coins (~1840 and earlier) is a common occurance. In case of really old ones it can actually decrease value! Just to drive the point home, consider how many overdates there were on US coinage before 1840 vs since then ;)

Re: 1833 large cent double face
Please take notice that the "Doubling" is not continuous across the entire center device, and only appears on the profile of the upper face
Re: 1833 large cent double face
What I'm saying is that errors like this, doubled dies, double strikes and so on are common on coins of this age. Whether this one is rare or not is an other thing.
