2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. Re: 1970 s penny what is going on with this thing
you are welcome. an easy foolproof way to determine if a coin is machine dubled or an actual duble die is to look at the "dubbled" letters, if the dubbled letters/ devices has the same height as the non-doubled letters, there's a chance that the coin is a genuine doubled die. But if the two letters have diffrent heights, which is visible on your coin, it's a machine doubled coin.Mick Ian Hill wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 6:28 pm Makes sense.. Remember this for the next thread you start please.
Here is something else to help you find actual errors:
Save Yourself time, effort, and disappointment...don’t learn the coin hobby backwards.
Looking for random anomalies on coins and hoping they match up to something collectable will take you a lot more time, wasted effort, and disappointment repeatedly finding out you have nothing but post mint damage.
Spend some initial time at places like error-ref.com, doubleddie.com, varietyvista.com, conecaonline.org, coppercoins.com etc. to find what actual and collectable coin errors look like.
A good way to start is, for instance, separate a bunch of pennies by date. Go to varietyvista.com and, date by date, use the reference there to see what errors are known for that specific coin/mint mark. Look for those specific errors/varieties using the pictures provided. After doing this for awhile you will KNOW what an actual error looks like and not have to waste time on face value and damaged coins.
Yet the next time you added pictures, you did not follow the forum guidelines and fix what he mentioned. Please review forum rules, please provide full, large, clear, cropped images of the coin, obverse and reverse, one coin per topic.

Look for the screenshot option which will download a picture into your computer so there will not be pixellation and interference patterns that distort important details.I have a cheap microscope. Let me mess with it.

I guess I explained that poorly. Here’s a picture example of what I was talking about.Paul wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 7:12 pmHUH?JTCC wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 6:44 pmyou are welcome. an easy foolproof way to determine if a coin is machine doubled or an actual doubled die is to look at the "dubbled" letters, if the dubbled letters/ devices has the same height as the non-doubled letters, there's a chance that the coin is a genuine doubled die. Doubled die. The die striking the coins has a doubled image. The coins are not actually "doubled dies," they are coins struck with a doubled die.
