Different illumination needed on the extreme close-up image…

Too much glare to really be able to tell much. Try indirect lighting or putting a tissue (or two) over the light source you are using to diffuse it.

Not sure if these pictures are any better. The area in question is concave into the coin.

I'm just curious as to the amount of contact marks located in the depression?

I see your points but it's not worth the effort. Forget it. It's not a major or critical thing. I'm not worried about it. Just thought you guys might like to see it.

Hey P, that caught my eye also. Don't know what it is but the contact marks range the same width as where the divot ends at the rim.

Much better pics IMO. Can now tell its incuse.

I admit I am not sure what this is. My best *GUESS* is that the planchet had a defect or pre-strike damage to the planchet. The coin circulated and so the crater shows typical wear marks/micro hits like the rest of the fields.

Willing to be corrected/enlightened.
