1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. Hard to see but it looks like it's in the wrong position too .

looks suspicious, but hard to be sure. I would take it to a local PCGS authorized dealer and see what they think

Re: 1909-s indian head, maybe
Hi
Just so I have a better understanding of the issue at hand, what aspect is suspicious or questionable? when I compare the placement of the "s" with images on pcgs it seems that the "s" is in the correct location. is the issue the shape of the "s" (which admittedly is hard to see) or how feint it is? or are there other features on either side that don't appear right?
Michael

Very difficult to tell inside the plastic with light reflecting off of it.
What I can see makes me think it could be a cast copy because of the porous nature. Better, and straight on pics outside the plastic would make it easier to assess.

I hear you, Earle. since it doesn't belong to me - I don't want to remove it from the cardboard holder. I can try to take and post (if it works out with the lighting) better photos, otherwise I'll take it to a coin star a few miles away...

Good idea. They will likely be able to tell. Someone who has seen and studied fakes can catch a good majority of them.
Another way to tell is to do an analysis of known mint mark positions, and also an overlay onto a good picture of yours. Most fakes will fail an overlay test.

Send it to ANACS it's the only way to be sure, more pics isn't going to help.

Pics remind me of a badly cast fake.
