I think it is machine doubling. But it is so severe, I would think it would bring a decent price (more than a nickle!) ON EbAY.

This coin is not worth any premium any where. If someone would try to sell it on E-bay they are just frauds trying to rip people off. By the very fact you are telling him or even recommending that he should try and sell it on E-Bay, in it self shows what type of person you are. A person with out any morals. (edited the wording to fit into a G rating).
As Paul said Strike Doubling. Not worth ANY premium.

@DS:
Some people like to have extreme examples in their collection even knowing what MD is. I have seen this more than once. To me, toning in the hobby being saleable is another of this same type of odd happening. Toning is chemical tarnishing which can lead to a very pricey treasure one day turning into a black melt value coin. Yet people buy it.

If an honest seller explicitly tells what an item is for sale on eBay, the it is up to the bidders to figure out what they would pay.

The Cap'n is on two forums I am on. I have never seen or heard him make any shady remarks or want to take advantage of people...quite the opposite in fact.

I just thought you were jumping the gun (musket in this case) a bit there. Sorry if this is offensive to you as it isn't meant to be.

Now had he said, "hey throw it on ebay, say its a doubled die, and see how much you can sucker someone out of it..."

I would have had a similar reply as yours.

@Earle42
No problem. I had made a post about some Users asking a question here, and then turning around and asking about the same coin in Coin World, receiving the same info as we told them here. That is what set me off. As some of these same people have in fact, turned around and put the same coin up for sale on E-bay listing it as what they wanted everyone to say it was. Some people refuse to believe what they are told and someday it may come back at this forum in some way (though it shouldn't in a perfect world).
Again no problem at all

Great DS...much appreciated😊

I was hoping not to come across as negative or judgmental...just standing behind the Cap'n as being a guy of good rep.

And I agree with what you say about on other forums and people still putting things on eBay despite advice. I know all of us get upset when someone does this and a buyer gets taken. Happens way too much.

DS was talking about people who hear the truth about their coin but post it for sell at ebay for what they wanted to hear and not what they where told.

Doesn't look that way to me. He is not talking about somebody else when he posted -

If you look at the conversation between Earl and myself, you will see that the situation had been discussed. When I made the post, it appeared that you had told him to sell it on E-bay. What I didn't understand was you were saying to sell it as a extreme MD coin. The way I saw it, he was being told to sell it on E-bay as what he thought it was (a doubled die). Earl explained it, and if you read that was said between us you would know he stood up for you and got me to understand I miss-read it. There are some people who have posted a coin here; not believing what we told them about their coin, turn around and either post it on a different forum or even sent the question into Coin World. They were giving the same answer on the other places they asked about it. The person than went on to attempt to sell the coin on E-bay, with the coin being listed at what the person wanted us to say it was. So when I read what you told him to do I missed the part about selling it a strong MD coin.
