1944 Wheat Penny PMD Find "Really Cool Find"

#1 Unread post by JonC »

Haven't posted in a while but I finally found something interesting in a bag of wheat penny's. I was excited to say the least. I wanted to post something here to show and get some input. The obverse has a strike through. A faint e pluribus unum just below Lincoln's bust with the indention of the C in cent in the middle and the leaf also. On the reverse a clear in God we trust as well as liberty above the N in One. And what appears to be the outline of Lincoln's head. The reverse is much more visible than the obverse but it is all there. I think this is a nice find. Wanted to show you guys and have any thoughts on how to preserve it.

It is not a strike through, I also do not think it a clashed die as it will not line up correctly. I may be wrong, but I think it was made Post Mint (Damage).

This is considered post mint damage.....

...... this coin was sandwiched between 2 other cents, which, in turn, left the impression of the other coins on this coin

The backwards and indented BER are clues showing to this being impressed into it from another cent post mint.
