My eye caught the doubled 6. I checked the die-marks and they
matched. But I cannot find the specific doubled 6 that my coin has...
A few minutes later I found a 1969 D, No FG.
Happy Girl.

Congratulations girl
My first doubled die found me today also… I was working tooooo hard at trying to find one lol However, once I stepped away , did some serious research and STOPPED searching each coin like my life depended on finding a DDO/DDR THE doubling jumped out at me and say HELLLLLLLLO. Good luck to you and may you find some real winners!

Tanx a lot! But what i still don't understand is that coins have to exactly match all the die marks/spots/signs before it can be considered the real thing. When errors and varieties only can EXIST because of their own process. I mean: the coin you find will differ more and more from the other. So why this rigid stramine? Good luck to you too!! Eva.

You will find a study on the actual minting process giving you these types of answers. You will also gain a lot more interesting info that will allow you to have a good background for other errors as well.excoin wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 3:03 am Tanx a lot! Since a doubled die is made from coin dies having a doubled image engraved into those dies, every coin minted from that die set (OBV and REV) will have to be absolutely identical. Any marks on those dies will automatically be present in every coin made from those dies.

I am not seeing a doubled 6 nor do I see any extra thickness of the date digits. I would like to see more images at different angles and please only post one coin per topic.
