1975 Penny Mint error or just dammge?
I am going through my dads penny collection organizing and evaluating and came across this interesting penny he saved for some reason. I am not sure if its a mint error or just random damage to the face of the coin. What is interesting to me is the concentric position of a ring on the obverse of the coin that seem like it may have happened during mint but i could be wrong. I checked PSCGS for any types of error for this date and did not find anything that matches this. I need expert advice since I do not have easy access to a coin show to have someone look at it. Any advise that would truly be appreciated.

Since you first mentioned this could have happened at the mint then how did you determine this? PCGS doesn't list mint errors, so you must used error-ref.com.

Re: 1975 Penny Mint error or just dammge?
Wow thank you for the feedback. I researched a bit more and did find plenty of coin roll crimper damage that resembles this. The great thing is that i have really started to look at errors and learned so much more. Thank you all for you kind words of support and advice. I am so happy to be here and so happy to be looking at coins. My father was a huge coin collector and passed away last month. I have the great joy of going though his collection of old pennies and putting them into new storage books so that i can pass on to later generations. thanks again and God bless you all for taking the time to look at this one coin and giving me your advice!!

Re: 1975 Penny Mint error or just dammge?
A polite suggestion that will help: Spend some time (its fun anyway!) looking into how the minting process is carried out and you would see there is nothing in the minting process that would do this. Also spending some quality time at error-ref.com will enable you to know what actual mint errors are vs.damage. In the long run thre more time you spend studying errors will save you a lot of time finding non-errors, taking pictures, posting...and being disappointed. What is interesting to me is the concentric position of a ring on the obverse of the coin that seem like it may have happened during mint but i could be wrong.
