1. Post a front and back image of your coin with a specific question about what you’re seeing or asking about and one coin per topic.
2. Please remove coin from the holder unless it’s US or an official mint case or unless it is graded by a grading service.
3. Images should be taken by a camera or cell phone camera, we ask that members don’t use images through a microscope screen.
4. Always start your own topic, please don’t ask about your coin or post your coin in someone else’s coin topic.
5. Do not send private messages about your coin unless an Admin ask you too and the same for sending emails through the board.
6. No spam. Do not post any links to your coin or other non-coin websites.
7. Always be respectful even if something makes you upset or you don’t agree with a member. You can always get a second opinion elsewhere. If you have an issue then politely ask an admin in an PM. PM’s are for issues, technical and personal, but not for coin questions (refer to number 5 on this list). 1960 D - Medium Date? Letter out of place?
Can someone please explain the date error? Not sure about RPM
Is the W too close to the rim or is the E out of place?
I have yet to confidently identify a doubled die. However LIBERTY intrigues me as do many other coins with fat, flat letters.
If you see any doubled dies, please refer me to the Class so I can go read Wexler for the 6th time?
I believe this coin is too beat up to be of any significant value so did not include the reverse which is coin wrapper damaged.
Thanks for shared knowledge!

The date has a sliding and angled contact mark from circulation, the rest of the coin is normal. Look up an image of this date and mint and study and compare your coin.

I agree. The 0 of the date took a hit in circulation.

Re: 1960 D - Medium Date? Letter out of place?
Some help here - it will save you time in posting and help your finding actual collectable coins:
Don’t learn the coin hobby backwards.
Looking for random anomalies on coins and hoping they match up to something collectable will take you a lot more time, wasted effort, and disappointment repeatedly finding out you have nothing but post mint damage.
Spend some initial time at places like error-ref.com, doubleddie.com, varietyvista.com, conecaonline.org, coppercoins.com etc. to find what actual and collectable coin errors look like.
A good way to start is, for instance, separate a bunch of pennies by date. Go to varietyvista.com and, date by date, use the reference there to see what errors are known for that specific coin/mint mark. Look for those specific errors/varieties using the pictures provided. After doing this for awhile you will KNOW what an actual error looks like and not have to waste time on face value and damaged coins.

For Earle42 Re: 1960 D - Medium Date? Letter out of place?
Given your excellent response to me, I grade you an A+ Administrator. You obviously took time to offer me good advice and while I am stumbling on abnormalities, I'm actually looking for quality - high grade coins. I have been hoarding - not collecting, coins for 20 + years and am finally going through them. It took weeks to sort them into individual years by denomination but I realized early on that it would save time later.
Thanks for reinforcing that method and again for your wise response!!
