1969D Missing FG Lincoln Cents

#1 Unread post by RickEDee »

Are there additional die marks (or whatever) on the Missing FG of the 1969D Lincoln cents? I have a few 1969D cents that might be missing the FG, but I do not have a trained eye to allow me to verify my suspicion. I am attaching an example of the dificulty we novice collectors have with this type of coin characteristic. The first photo shows a parcial wide angle of the OBV, followed by parcial wide angle REV, followed by a close in of the REV. Note that the wide angle REV seems to indicate that there is remnant FG material on the coin. However, the REV close in FG is questionable. How do we undeducated collectors isolate these types of characteristics - additional marks on the coin?

I clearly see the FG. So, there's no marker's that I know of . Awaiting more answers.

This isn’t a missing FG and you need someone to examine in hand to verify, images just won’t cut it.

On the first photo of the reverse you can plainly see the FG. When using a magnification on a USB microscope it may appear that FG is missing. Take it out from under the microscope and look at it with a 10X loop. You would be surprised at how the FG suddenly looks (you can see it now).
