Please spend time at error-ref.com. From this post it is easy to predict you will be back here posting many such coins and being disappointed over and over again...and none of us want that :)

Finding out what actual collectable mint errors are will open you eyes to being able to not have to waste your own time asking about coins that someone who has spent time researching at that site would pass over instantly.

Maybe it's just the camera or the lighting, but doesn't that look like 90% silver instead of plain old clad? Not possible with an '85, I know, but if I spotted that tone of metal in my pocket change I'd give it a real close look.

It should be weighed before being asked about.

I don't really for a second believe it's 90% silver, just that something about the picture or its lighting makes it look sort of beguiling, seeing as I can often spot a pre-'65 from across the room buried in like a tip jar. Still, most "normal" people stumbling into this Forum with a question about some odd or damaged coin they found are not gonna own the sort of micro-scale needed for that sort of accuracy or one of those Sigma Tester doodads. I've been collecting coins since like the Johnson Administration, and I don't have either either.

I understand that, been full time at this for 20 years, but they asked value so they can sell it. If they’re doing that then they have no business selling coins or not owning a scale or knowing about coins. Giving them more ideas it is possibly silver will only make matters worse. So here we ask for weight and are careful how we word things to newbies.

A scale will run about 10.00 on ebay.
