1934 DDO quarter value

#1 Unread post by TomekD »

So, I want to sell a 1934 DDO quarter in the condition shown below (I think it's F12 but I may be wrong) and I want to know what price I should be expecting - I've looked at its PCGS listing already but still want to know your opinion!

This is indeed a 1934 DDO, very clear doubling on the Motto.

PCGS has this at $100 for a F-12 Specimen

Welcome! The reverse of a coin is just as important as the obverse when coming up with a grade. I see a touch of hair detail in back - other details look a little flat. Probably VG-F range for the obverse. Happy to look at the back side of the coin if you post it too.

I went to ebay and searched on "1934 DDO quarter" and selected the option to see only "sold" items. I saw coins that may be in the level of yours selling around $25-30. One went for ~$100, so that is probably the range. I suppose the value depends on whom you are selling it to. If you try to sell it to a coin shop, it might be less than if you were selling to a collector on ebay (where you would have fees to pay).

Good luck!
Scott

Thanks for the response! About the reverse, it'd be pretty time consuming to take a photo so I'm not sure if I'll do it - admitably, it looks a bit more worn.

BTW - a coin in a slab does typically sell for more profit. But if you look into all the grading fees, membership fees, then ebay fees, paypal fees etc. You will end up up deep in the hole over this one.

Nice find. You can do an ebay sold item search to see what they sell for ungraded.

Everyone needs to remember, that the EXACT variety number is important when determining value…

There were quite a few doubled varieties for this year, and that value will be determined by that individual variety number.
