Roosevelt dime error?

#1 Unread post by chrisefloyd »

Hello all! Coming to the experts. Thoughts? I've looked up similar coins but all have had rounded edges indicating a dryer dime. This is actually smaller than regular dime. It's very crispy on the edges. Please see attached photos.

Ok thanks! Didn't think it was one simply because not round edges like others that I've seen. What causes this? Definitely keeping it. Kinda cool.

This doesn't happen and can't happen during the minting process.

To me, and I may be wrong, this ones edges make me think the person who spooned it also did some touch up work on the rim making it more shiny and smooth.

If you look very carefully on your OBV and REV pics (especially the closeup of the REV), you can see where the picture of the the inside of the circumference shows very tiny marks breaking a smooth curve from when the coin's edge was impacted by spooning.
