Introduction

#1 Unread post by gmwatson »

Hello all,

My name is Mike and I live in Indiana.

I've probably been collecting (or more like hoarding) for almost 50 years. Started rooting through my collected change while doing the paper boy gig at around age 10 and haven't stopped since. I absolutely love the hobby and enjoy meeting and talking with fellow collectors ... so looking forward to joining in with the group and hopefully learning some while having a good time with some new friends.

Here's hoping y'all are having a great evening and I'm looking forward to joining in.

(Dan, I was born in Huntington, WV and have family from a little town (East Lynn) southeast of there. Tremendous people who'd give you the shirt off your back even if it was the last one they had. You remind me a lot of those folks back home. I'm sure it's a lot to tackle keeping all the guts in the air, but also sure there are likely many folks out here who appreciate all you do and how you do it. Again, sending my best regards to you and all CHU Community members. M)

Thanks Earle.

Looking forward to joining the group and don't worry about me and sensitive feelings. As a long time vet ... can take a lot of flack without suffering a bruised ego. Be as brief or long winded as you so desire.

Hi TC,

How's the fall weather in LA? Hitting the mid-forty's in Indy tonight. Never been to LA, so don't have any idea of what kind of weather you all get in October. I'm assuming significantly warmer than here.

Weather is great! It has been in the mid to low 70's recently. Never been to Indiana myself, but I bet it is a sight to see right now with all the trees and their fall colored leaves.

Trees are changing albeit it a little later this year.

As I understand it, cool temperatures and the amount of water tend to be the determining factors. It has only recently started turning cooler and we've been fairly light on rain through October. Our October is typically cool to cold in the evenings and generally pretty soggy. It can be a blah month as nothing seems to dry out much as we go into winter. That said, the fall seasons seem to have been warmer and dryer over the past ten years ... at least from my memory.

I've still got ripening tomatoes on the vine despite the growing season typically wrapping-up more toward the end of September.
