1943S Reprocessed?

#1 Unread post by RickEDee »

When I first looked at this 1943s Lincoln Cent, without magnification, it looked too good. I suspected that it had been reprocessed. Are there ways to determine whether or not a 1943 Lincoln Cent has been reprocessed? After taking these photos, I am less suspicious, but would still like to know if there is a way to confirm or rule-out whether it had been reprocessed. I am sory about the orientation of these photos, but I could not rotate them properly.

If you clck on the photo, I think it will (?) rotate to a proper orientation.

Just saying...the mint never reprocessed any coins. So the condition of your coin is considered by the hobby to be post mint damage. There is not extra value. 😞

IF the coloring in the photo is correct, it looks like you have a gold plated 1943 S steel cent that was likely plated to be used as jewelry (made in to a charm, cufflinks, etc.), or someone plated it for the fun of it.

The mint never made these in gold, or gold plated. So again, this is post mint damage.

You also should know that so very little gold is used to plate a coin that there is no added value for the gold either.

Although the pictures, when zoomed, are fuzzy, it also appears you can see the original metal showing through on higher portions of the coin where the gold wore away.

Thanks for the responses and input. The coin is "silver" colored, not gold coated. I am just poor at photo images. I am attaching photoes of the edges, starting at the North (or Head) of the coin and rotating clockwise (East) via the 3 O'Clock position.
