Hello and Welcome!! I have NOT seen one of these. 13 OZ of Silver? That's pretty neat!

Re: Chinese "boat" Ingot
Thanks. I looked at some other ones on eBay now, and they're much cruder than this. Having said that we all know how good some counterfeiters are. I have an 1883 V gold-plated nickel that is also a very good job.SensibleSal66 wrote: ↑Sat May 28, 2022 12:25 am Hello and Welcome!! I have NOT seen one of these. 13 OZ of Silver? That's pretty neat!

I will let you know when I find an analyser. I think that it's a fake, but I know nothing about Chinese numismatics. Thanks again.

Hey Daniel. I sure appreciate your videos on YouTube and especially the site here. Hope to learn plenty more, thanks to your work. Your advice has prevented me from making more than one mistake. Just opened a very small online coin store, something I saved stock for (and built my collection up) for a few decades. Thanks for the help!

I've been looking for a few days and it seems that these are prized for their age and the fact that they are given to family and friends on special occasions. None of the ones I saw was analysed. I will get it done, but it's sure looks old.

Re: Chinese "boat" Ingot
No, I have not examined real examples in hand before, but I did with many fake examples. This example looks too good to be real. Remember, original examples of these are casted in poorly made moulds, middle of nowhere, dynasty China. They then proceed to circulate and bash against other things, which imaginable are not the best for them. Things can be said otherwise for modern counterfeits though. That raised my suspicion.

I agree with everything you wrote. The flood of garbage has been overwhelming to the point where I don't buy anything without weighing it, at the least. So many friends have been burned and showed me the results. Fake Morgan's mostly. I'll let you know what I find out. Was amazed that no one here has an analyser, but it's a town of 10K only. Thanks again!

Re: Chinese "boat" Ingot
I looked up some stuff and I bought this silver ingot from China in 2002, right after China allowed eBay sales. I'd never seen anything like them either. I carried it around for a few years showing it around but no one I ran into ever saw one either.
