#1 Unread post by Scrappy »

Change came from the ice cream shop. Got three quarters in all. The 1970 D quarter weighs 5.5 grams.

Need better pictures and out of any holders it might be in, it's better not to hold the camera when taking images.

This appears to be a lamination issue, I wouldn’t really call stuff like this mint errors due to how common they are.

I agree, as to how this occurred, I would need to see it in hand.

The term "error" in the coin hobby has nothing to do with how common or uncommon something may be.

A "variety" is typically something due to the die being abnormal such as hub doubling, RPMs, OMs, etc.

An "error" is when a one time event occurs such as wrong stock, faulty planchets (which includes delamination), brockage, double struck, etc.

"Die events" happen as dies age. Cracks, DDD, chips, polishing removing details, etc.

Please remember to emphasize when you state opinions vs. checking facts so people go away from here with correct info :D
