Scam Alert! Fake pcgs slab 1893-s morgan dollar

#1 Unread post by Artillery87 »

Just came across this browsing for coins on Mercari. I could immediately tell the slab did not look right but I could see an inexperienced coin buyer thinking that they found a really good deal and end up getting scammed out of $2,000. Just thought I would share to help raise an awareness to the honest people in the coin community. If you search the cert number on the pcgs website you can tell this is not even the same coin and its obvious the coin in the fake slab is counterfeit. Such a shame they are targeting people who are just trying to enjoy a hobby...

I just went back and looked at it again, it shows that somebody has already offered $1800 for it! I flagged the item as being counterfeit but it is still up for sale. I hope it gets removed before somebody falls victim to this and ends up with a coin that they think is the real deal. Could you imagine someone holding onto something like this for decades to pass it down to thier kids and then they have to be the ones to find out it is fake years down the road and not only is the money lost but time invested but also the hopes of loved family members. It makes me sick to even think about it!!!!
