State Quarters

#1 Unread post by vic1961 »

Are State Quarters worth collecting? I have several bags and rolls of state quarters and I am thinking it is going to to take a long time to go through them all. So is it worth the time and effort?

Hello. I personally don't think so but others with the time might find it relaxing for awhile anyways.

The first ones have actually lost value from when they were pulled from circulation just due to inflation! They have no precious metals in them, so unless they are a rare variety (error) in the series (varietyvista.com lists all Washington quarter varieties by date and mint mark ), they will not increase in value. They will all continue to decrease in value as any other normal clad coinage as time goes on.

The quarters form the silver proof sets are precious metals and will, therefore, not lose value.
