1971 D Kennedy half dollar- question about color and reverse

There is a dark area that is in the same spot on both sides. The reverse shows a pattern almost of some sort of machine marks??... but the rim doesn't look damaged from it.

This coin is mechanically post mint damaged.

I agree, all those scratches are PMD, and the black areas could be stains

The black shows on both sides in the same spot is why I asked it doesn't seem like it would line up like that if it was just a dirty situation. And I did figure it was post mount damage but... without damaging the rim it made question.

Despite the spots being in the same place, there is nothing in the minting process that could do this to the coin. It is all post mint damage.
