You had one job!
Just... maybe next time don't place your order with your counterfeiter over the phone. Or use the NATO alphabet to help with spelling!
"Victor, Delta, Delta?"
- Negative! That's "Victor, Delta, Bravo"!
Come on, Daniel, shake your head in disbelief with me!

I take offence to that post. I use the military alphabet all the time. What would one expect after 20 years of service?

Re: 1909-S VDB for only $100 on eBay!!
By the way, "It's no longer Able, Baker Charlie, Dog, Easy, Fox, George, How..."
So you know first hand its practical application and how to avoid having your priceless coins wind up reading "V.D.D.", then?
Used it in the Air Force, and then into to the airline world.
Drives me nuts when colleagues would make up their own words, "um.... "M" as in Mary... uh... "B" as in Berry... "T" as in Terry... "L", um... um...um..."
- "As in Larry, perhaps?" Kinda defeats the purpose when all the words RHYME!!!

I've heard this on HAM Radio too, it's the phonetic alphabet.
Also, nice Counterfiet catch! Have that reported too!

I am not trying to say that I know whether this coin is counterfeit or legitimate, but the person who listed this is saying that the picture you linked is a "sample picture of the placement of the VDB" and is not the coin in the listing
I am pretty sure this coin is a 1909 P VDB

Looking at the pictures again, it’s a possibility. since the supposed S-V.D.B. Looks much more worn down than the other coin which the seller posted as an example of the letters “V.D.B.”monsterbug1 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 12:51 am I am not trying to say that I know whether this coin is counterfeit or legitimate, but the person who listed this is saying that the picture you linked is a "sample picture of the placement of the VDB" and is not the coin in the listing

If so, it’s one heck of a way to scare away potential bidders.....

Re: 1909-S VDB for only $100 on eBay!!
I was actually trying to find another post to share. Someone wanted $500 for their 09-S VDB, but couldn't be bothered to get closer than 6 feet away from the coin when photographing it? Tiny pics for a key date? Naturally, I'm gonna think that there's something going on there that isn't on the level, and scroll on by.
How extremely vital good marketing is!

Oh, yeah. I forgot - then there's that too! I didn't win it. Because I didn't bid on it! Too hot for me! Hard to brag about owning n 09-S V.D.B. at a party, where no one has a microscope handy! I'll wait for a coin that screams its status from 20 feet away!
And you're showing me where the initials appear?! And that's the best stock photo you can find on the internet?!

I saw! That's a lot of money! Imagine all the suckers you could buy with that kind of cash! Dum-Dums galore!
We didn't touch upon this point either, but I'm skeptical that the wear on the coin is natural.
