In light of Daniel's youtube video on 8/15/22 about the proliferation and false advertising of damaged/mint error coins on ebay, I thought I might ask about the potential value of environmentally damaged coins that have been found through metal detecting. I know some silvers can come out of the ground not showing much in terms of environmental effects, but what about the old nickels and pennies such as Buffs, V and Shield Nickels, Large Cents, and IHP's, etc.
Due to copper/nickel content, these all tend to show environmental damage when dug from the earth. I understand that this would tend to make them "less than good" to a collector. Just wondering, as long as advertised as such, is there still a viable market for somewhere between no value and the generally-listed value of "good" online?

I agree. But as to there being a set price range, there is none I am aware of. So I cannot say something like, well, take off 30% of book value). It does not work that way. Very rare coins can still bring a decent profit when dug.

Re: Value of ED detected coins
There's a market for "dug" coins but they're worth less when damaged or corroded and should be described as such.
