Such a shame - harshly cleaned. It looks whizzed.

Taking into account what I can see in your pictures, and looking at the grading examples at coinsandcanada.com, I think yours looks more like their EF 40 examples..but oh those scratches :(

Too much wear on the high points for AU details.

"It looks whizzed."

Harshly Cleaned.
I do not detect any evidence of whizzing here.

Not contradicting, just a statement of learning on my part.

I am aware the definition of whizzed, as taken from the NGC website is, "These coins are mechanically processed using a rotating metal brush in order to impart a false luster onto the coin. When done well, the coins can be quite deceptive if you are unsure what to look for."

When I saw the face of this coin it looked like someone had taken something like a dremel tool with a small wire wheel and spent time going one direction and then another while miserably failing to to make what they had done noticeable.

That is why I used the term whizzed. So then I guess what you are saying is that the result being a false luster where the lines can be almost undetectable is what makes an actual "whizzed" coin?

Maybe it’s been cleaned with a steel scourer the one people use to clean grease and debris stuck to a frying pan.

Yes.......... "Whizzed" coins will show a typical rounding on the top of the of square edged devices

Regardless, this coin is improperly cleaned and in a harsh manner.
